Customs and Croissants
The next morning we were off to St. Maarten for Customs and Croissants*. We had the great opportunity to meet up at Orient Bay Beach with our buddies, the Castines, and the friends they were traveling with on a cruise ship. Thanks for bringing those great sandwiches for lunch, Julie!
What a beautiful beach it is! Dirk got to do a little bit more kiteboarding while Sandy and Aaron watched him from Catatonic and served as the retrieval vessel once he kite surfed downwind. After celebrating Captain Dirk’s birthday part 1, we said goodbye to our friends and went to pick up the next two of our crew to arrive - Dory and Cat.
That night we stayed at the anchorage at Tintamarre and finished celebrating Dirk’s birthday in style. Decorations aboard were the flags from all of the island nations we’ve visited. Dinner was Filet Mignon grilled to order, Wasabi Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Balsamic Glazed Broccoli and individual Chocolate Lava Cakes with vanilla ice cream and toasted almonds for dessert. There may also have been wine involved…
* The number of times fresh-baked baguettes, croissants, pain au chocolat, pate de foie and French wine appeared aboard have been obscured to protect the (not so) innocent.
